A nice Akuaba doll breastfeeding a baby sitting on a stool. It is in perfect condition. It has some nice ornaments on the top off her head on both sides. The stool is painted red with some ornaments and she also has some triangle shaped ornaments on her back.
Akuaba dolls are wooden carved fertility dolls and are a general symbol of good luck and health. They are known the best from the Ashanti people from Ghana. Traditionally a woman would wear the Akuaba on her back hoping to conceive a child or that her current child would be born healthy. They have a large round head and are very popular around the world. And if the doll was not in use it would still be washed and taken care of by the owner.
